Richard Branson speaks on Learning – Top 10 Quotes

Richard Branson on Learning - Virgin

by Richard Branson

Curiosity is one of humanity’s most healthy instincts. Without it, we would never have evolved, advanced or achieved anything. My life has been all about learning. I’ve never been one to adhere to the rules, and instead favoured first-hand experiences.

So, in ode to my love of learning, and to encourage you to embrace your curiosity when it hits, here are my top 10 quotes on learning:

10. “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin

9. “In youth we learn; in age we understand.” – Marie von Ebner-Eschenbac

8. “I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.” – Louisa May Alcott

7. “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.” – John Wooden

6. “A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer.” – Bruce Lee

5. “Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” – Albert Einstein

4. “Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.” – Abigail Adams

3. “The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.” – B.B King

2. “To learn one must be humble. But life is the great teacher.” – James Joyce

1. “One of the secrets to staying young is to always do things you don’t know how to do, to keep learning.” – Ruth Reichl

And here’s my favourite musing about learning:

You don’t learn to walk by following rules, you learn by doing and by falling over.
