The low-down on the list of documents you need to keep handy to ensure a smooth admission process.
 
It will soon be time to prepare for admission formalities in college. The enrollment process requires applicants, especially those applying to institutions outside their hometowns, to submit several documents. Here is a list of what they need to keep ready.

Mumbai and Pune

• Birth certificate (original + two attested photocopies)
• Class X mark sheet (original + three attested photocopies)
• Class XII mark sheet (original + three attested photocopies)
• School/ college-leaving certificate
• Ration card (original + two attested photocopies)
• Five passport-sized photographs
• Two ID-card-sized photographs
• Attested copy of the passport (for international students)
• Provisional mark sheet (in case you are awaiting the original)
• Transfer certificate and previous mark sheets (for those who wish to switch colleges on completion of the first year of the degree program)
• Caste certificate (for those applying to the SC/ST/OBC quota)
• Certifications from national/ international bodies for those who apply for the sports/ cultural quota
• Migration certificate (for students coming from other states)
• Gap certificate (on stamp paper) in case of a gap in education

Delhi

• Birth certificate (original + two attested photocopies)
• Class X mark sheet (original + three attested photocopies)
• Class XII mark sheet (original + three attested photocopies)
• Character certificate (not older than six months) from the head of the institute where the qualifying examination has been passed or from a gazetted officer (original and one self-attested photocopy)
• SC/ST certificate (in the name of the candidate) issued by the competent authority
• OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate (in the candidate’s name) issued by the competent authority
• Certifications from national/ international bodies for those who apply for sports/ cultural quota
• Transfer certificate from school/college as well as migration certificate from the board/ university
• Two passport-sized self-attested photographs
• Latest income certificate (from the competent authority as specified on the institute’s website) of the candidate’s parents, if s/he belongs to the OBC category and his/her OBC certificate

Bengaluru 

• Class X mark sheet (original + three attested photocopies)
• Class XII mark sheet (original + three attested photocopies)
• 10 passport-sized and 10 stamp-sized photographs
• Migration certificate issued by the board/ university
• Conduct/Character certificate
• Transfer certificate issued by the school/ college last attended
• Date of birth/ age proof certificate (passport copy, birth certificate)
• Caste certificate (for those belonging to reserved categories)
• Certifications from national/ international bodies for those who apply for the sports/ cultural quota
• Valid passport and student visa copy (for NRI and foreign nationals only)

Chennai

• Original transfer certificate
• Conduct certificate from the head of the institution last attended
• Mark statements of the higher secondary course or any other qualifying examination, along with three photocopies of the mark statement
• Eligibility certificate issued by the University of Madras (UoM) in the case of applicants whose qualifying examination has to be recognized by the University
• One passport-sized color photograph and one stamp-sized color photograph
• A copy of the address proof (ration card/ voter ID/ driving licence/ passport/Aadhaar card)
• Candidates who have passed the CBSE or higher secondary examination (class XII) conducted by Boards other than the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board of Education will be required to produce an eligibility certificate from the UoM
• International applicants should hold a regular student’s long-term visa
• Certifications from national/ international bodies for those who apply for the sports/ cultural quota

Kolkata

• The original mark sheet of the last qualifying examination and an attested photocopy of the same
• Birth certificate (original + two attested photocopies)
• Three copies of a recent passport-sized photograph
• Original caste/ tribe certificate (for SC/ST candidates) along with an attested copy
• Migration certificate in original, if a candidate is migrating from another board/ university (other than ISC, CBSE), is required to be submitted at the time of admission
• A candidate who has been previously admitted to another college must produce a transfer certificate (original) at the time of admission
